The Proposals

Beaumont is bringing forward proposals for a mixed-use residential and commercial redevelopment scheme, designed to accurately reflect the city's existing character and heritage.

Our proposals include:

Commercial space icon

New high-quality commercial space fronting onto George IV Street, supporting the local economy by creating further employment opportunities in Cambridge.

Listed buildings icon

Securing the long-term repair, restoration, and viable reuse of the existing listed buildings at 20–22 Hills Road through their conversion to residential co-living units.

Street transformation icon

Transformation of George IV Street through the provision of wider pavements, new trees, and fresh planting.

Green roofs icon

Creation of green roofs, rain gardens, new planting, and restoration of a landscaped residents' garden.

Architecture icon

Use of contemporary architecture to enhance the Conservation Area and local street scenes.

Brick facades icon

Façades of locally produced brick, manufactured from clay excavated on site.

Low carbon icon

A low-carbon, fully electric design incorporating heat pumps and solar panels, supporting long-term sustainability.

Cycle spaces icon

Provision of circa 200 secure cycle spaces to support active travel.

Consultation event

We recently held a consultation event at St Paul’s Church and Community Centre to present the proposals and gather feedback from residents who immediately neighbour the site.

The exhibition boards that were on display at this event can be viewed here and after viewing these boards, we encourage you to submit your feedback on our proposals by visiting the Have Your Say page.
